About the Oakland Public Library
The Oakland Public Library is an enriching environment for all ages of the Oakland, NJ community and beyond. Far more than a place for books, it's a true community hub — with dedicated departments and programming for kids, teens, and adults, a full calendar of events, and a popular summer reading program.
Cardholders unlock an impressive range of free resources: stream movies and media with Kanopy, borrow eBooks and audiobooks through Hoopla and Libby, learn a language with Mango Languages, and read thousands of newspapers and magazines on PressReader. The library also offers live tutoring and job-help tools through Brainfuse (HelpNow, JobNow, and VetNow for veterans), computer access, meeting and study rooms, and a "Library of Things." Oakland residents can even borrow passes to area museums through the Museum Pass Program.
It's exactly the kind of community resource that makes a town a wonderful place to live and learn — which is why we wanted to feature it.
