The Gambert name has been synonymous with fine shirtmaking since 1933, when family patriarch Joseph J. Gambert opened his shop on Springfield Avenue in Newark. For more than 90 years, the family has been making shirts in Newark's Ironbound section — and today the workshop is owned and run by third-generation shirtmaker Mitch Gambert.
