About Lupita's Cocina
Lupita's Cocina is a true family story. It began about two years ago as a Thursday special at a local Oakland, NJ deli — and quickly became the highlight of the week for so many customers that it grew into a restaurant of its own. Chef Cruz had always dreamed of opening a place where people could gather and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, and together with her daughter Deisy, that dream became Lupita's Cocina.
The name itself is a tribute — Cruz had always wanted to honor the Virgen de Guadalupe. That same love and intention goes into every dish, made from the heart with the authentic flavors of Mexico. It's the kind of heartfelt, family-run cooking that turns first-time guests into regulars.
It's exactly the kind of local gem — built on family, dreams, and great food — that makes a town feel like home, which is why we wanted to feature them.
